Why kids' quotes disappear
Your child says something that makes the whole room laugh. You're sure you'll remember it. A week later, nobody remembers the exact words, only that it was funny.
It's not for lack of trying. The quote book is in a drawer at home, and the best lines happen in the car, at dinner or on the way back from daycare. Notes on your phone turn into a long list that never reaches the grandparents.
Quote book, notes app or a quote journal app?
There's no single right way. Here's an honest comparison.
| Paper quote book | Notes app | Pobbly | |
|---|---|---|---|
| With you when it happens | Rarely, it's at home | Yes | Yes |
| Date and age | You write it | You write it | Added for you |
| Without typing | No | Only with dictation | Yes, just tell it |
| Family gets to see it | When they visit | If you send it | In their own app |
| Easy to find again | Yes, in the book | Mixed in with shopping lists | Child by child, with a yearbook |
| Price | One-off purchase | Free | 15 free, then $2.99/month (US) |
If you love paper, a quote book is a lovely choice, and it can do one thing an app can't: sit on the bookshelf. Pobbly is for parents who never have the book with them when it happens.
How the kids' quote journal works
- Say it or type it. Tap the button and tell Pobbly in your own words what your child just said. Rather not talk? Just type it. Either way takes seconds.
- Check the quote. Pobbly finds your child's words in what you said and adds the date and their exact age. You can always edit the text or keep your own version.
- Keep it or share it. Every quote becomes a story-sized card you can send via Messenger, WhatsApp, text or email. Or keep it in your family's own timeline.

The whole family can follow along
Invite your partner, the grandparents and anyone close to you. They see your pobbles in their own app, can leave a comment and save quotes they hear themselves. Everyone signs in, so only your family sees them. Grandma doesn't need Instagram.
Quotes that come back
A quote journal is meant to be reread. Pobbly collects your quotes in a yearbook, child by child, and the Pobble of the Day widget brings an old quote back to your home screen every time you pick up your phone.
How much does it cost?
Your first 15 pobbles are free, no credit card needed. After that, Pobbly Plus costs $2.99 a month or $22.99 a year in the US App Store, and it covers the whole family. Prices in other countries are set locally in the App Store. Cancel any time in the App Store, and your quotes stay put.
Questions and answers
What is a kids' quote journal?
A quote journal is where parents write down the funny, clever and odd things their children say, ideally with the date and age. A kids' quote journal app is the same idea on your phone, so it's always with you.
Do I have to record my child?
No. You retell what your child said, and it's your voice that becomes text. You can also just type the quote. Pobbly never records video.
Who can see our quotes?
Only you and the people you invite. Everything is private by default, and a single quote can be made fully private so only you can see it.
